Volunteer Opportunities

Ways You Can Help

GWIM programs depend on a dedicated team of volunteers. Our 52 member congregations rotate kitchen duty, and community members pitch in across every part of our operation.

Soup Kitchen

Help prepare and serve meals Monday through Friday, 11 AM to 1 PM. Assist with setup, food prep, serving, and cleanup. Weekend bag lunch prep also available.

Food Pantry

Sort and organize donations, pack grocery bags, assist families during distribution days (2nd and last Monday of each month), and help manage inventory.

Events & Fundraisers

Help at the Feed the Need Dinner, Hunger Walk, Shake the Can, Bowl-a-Thon, and 24 Hours on the Green. Setup, logistics, and day-of support.

No Experience Needed

Our 52 member congregations, churches, synagogues, and a mosque, have been rotating kitchen duty for decades. This interfaith tradition is the backbone of GWIM. Just a willingness to help is all it takes. No formal application. No background check. Our Executive Director meets every volunteer.

No. Volunteers give what they can, when they can. Some help once a year at a fundraiser, others serve weekly in the kitchen. Every hour matters.
Yes. We host corporate service days, scout troops, school groups, and faith-based groups regularly. Contact us at least two weeks ahead to coordinate a team day.
Yes, with a parent or guardian. Kidz Club summer volunteers help with younger children, and families often volunteer together at Shake the Can events and the Hunger Walk.
No formal background check is required. Our Executive Director meets every volunteer personally before they start.
