The GWIM Hunger Walk brings the community together to take steps, literally, toward a future where no neighbor goes hungry in Greater Waterbury.


About the Walk

Steps That Feed Our Neighbors

Started in 2018 and returned after a COVID pause, the GWIM Hunger Walk is an annual community event that raises awareness and funds for hunger relief in Greater Waterbury.

Community Walk

Half-mile route around the Soup Kitchen at 770 East Main Street. Board members, volunteers, local businesses, faith communities, and neighbors walk together.

Yellow GWIM Shirts

Participants wear GWIM yellow shirts and carry banners to show that hunger is a local issue with a local solution.

Open to All

Individuals, families, teams, and corporate groups all welcome. No pledge requirement or registration fee.

Common Questions

Hunger Walk 2026 is Saturday, October 24 at 12:00 noon. Register on Zeffy: walk free or pay what you can. Call 203-757-7734 or follow GWIM on Facebook for updates.
No. Registration is pay what you can, and walking for free is absolutely fine. Every dollar given goes straight to the Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
About half a mile, a loop around the Soup Kitchen at 770 East Main Street. Family-friendly and accessible.
Kids yes, always. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome too. The walk is meant to feel like a community block party.

Take East Main St eastbound for about 1 mile. GWIM is on the right at 770 East Main St.
