Help Us To Minister To The Poor, Disadvantaged And Homeless Of The Greater Waterbury Area!

Soup Kitchen/Dining Hall

Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, Inc. (GWIM) provides approximately 450 gourmet hot meals Monday through Friday 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to Waterbury’s impoverished residents. We are open  Sunday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm for bag lunches only. The number of meals varies throughout the month, as individuals deplete their personal resources, with fewer meals being served at the beginning of the month, increasing through mid-month, with the greatest need toward the end of the month. Our Chef consults with our volunteer Registered Dietician to insure that our meals meet Federal nutritional guidelines. This is particularly important for many of our guests, as this may be the only meal they eat daily.

Emergency Food Pantry

GWIM distributes groceries at our Emergency Food Pantry the the last Monday of the month from 8:30 AM until noon and the second Monday of the month 9 AM to 10 AM. Our grocery distribution provides a family of four with adequate food that equates to three meals per person for four days. We currently average 450 families visiting our Pantry on the last Monday of the month. The Food Pantry is also available every Monday from 9:00 am -10:00 am on an emergency basis, for the needs of our citizens. On these Mondays, we average 150 families per week, only being open for one hour.

This division of our services has been greatly impacted by today’s economy.

Resource Center

GWIM Resource Center is available to provide an intake assessment or interview to identify the needs of many daily visitors.  Many individuals find themselves newly impoverished and do not know of the various portals for entitlement services available to assist them in their efforts to stabilize their individual or family situations. Representatives from Stay Well Health Center, Legal Aid Services, The Health Department The VA and Social Security, provide information and access to resources.

Kidz Club

A respite from the summer months for kids in Waterbury. Kidz Club is located in the “White House”, where GWIM provides reading, arts, crafts, games, puzzles and fun activities during the schools’ summer break. GWIM provides a daily breakfast and lunch for the “kids” in the Dining Hall.
