GWIM ANNUAL HOMELESS AWARENESS EVENT:
This event is held for 24 Hours on the Green in Wolcott CT once a year. High School Youth spend 24 hours on the Green to discover what it takes to be without adequate shelter, clothing and food. Police and security is present during this time, During daylight hours, the youth collect food and money to support the GWIM Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. It is an eye opening experience for our youth to discover the challenges of being without adequate shelter, food and clothing.
GWIM ANNUAL FUNDRAISER DINNER:
GWIM holds an annual Fundraiser Dinner to raise money for the various programs at GWIM. This year the dinner will be TBD based on Covid-19. The number of families that enter the programs of GWIM is ever increasing. We are serving over 400,000 meals during our fiscal year and the need is always increasing! The Annual Dinner is held to raise awareness of the needs of the population in our community facing hunger, poverty and homelessness, and to help raise the funds necessary to run our vital programs.
GWIM ANNUAL HUNGER WALK:
This is a great event where our youth and adults alike from around the community gather to bring awareness to the plight of those in need of adequate food, clothing, and shelter.
GWIM, is hosting a Month of Helping the Hungry with a kickoff Hunger Walk on September 30, 2023 at GWIM headquarters located at 770 East Main Street Waterbury. This will be streamed via Facebook Live, with a donor link, as we walk the 2 miles with a Banner displaying all of our business sponsors
GWIM SHAKE THE CAN AT LOCAL MARKETS:
Please join us for a fun day at area supermarkets to raise awareness about HUNGER and raise money for our wonderful programs at GWIM! We gather at the various supermarkets in the area on selected Saturdays between May and October, greeting customers of the supermarkets, informing them about GWIM and accepting their generous donations. We are looking for volunteers to help us run the various stations at the markets on the assigned dates.
GWIM ANNUAL BOWL-A-THON:
GWIM will be hosting its first annual Bowl-A-Thon at the end of January on a Sunday (the exact date and location TBA). This event is a fundraiser and an opportunity for the public to learn more about GWIM, while having a fun time bowling. Teams of 4 will fill out pledge sheets raising money for GWIM, then come and bowl 2 games during their allotted time. We will have bowling time slots from 10 am to 4 pm. Corporate sponsors will be featured on the participant shirt, the banner, and on all social media and printed materials. There will be a raffle, DJ, and fun will be had by all.
