GWIM Food Pantry

Thousands of pounds of non-perishable food items are distributed each month providing emergency food packages which help to supplement the breakfast, lunch and dinner of families (of all sizes) trying to make ends meet and keep their families healthy and well-fed, too.

Food bags containing 3 meals for 4 days (twelve meals all together) are distributed once a month on the last Monday (the time of the month when money and food have both run out). Included in the bags are nutritionally balanced meal choices. The number of bags received per family is dependant on how many family members there are in the home.

Volunteers give more than 400 hours a month to help collect, sort, bag and distribute these life saving bags of both donated and purchased foods. Want to help? Call and let us know when you can be there.

Want to start a food drive in your organization, school, or business? Give us a call and we'll get you started. Food items may be dropped off at GWIM any week day morning. Call before you come so we can be ready for you!

GWIM Soup Kitchen and Professional Services

Each weekday a delicious and nutritious hot meal is prepared and served to those who are in need. Men, women and children come into the dining area (open from 11-1) and are seated at tables where they will be served (restaurant style). In nice weather the meal is served "al fresco" in the beautiful enclosed courtyard (called The Close) of St John's Church. On Sundays and holidays bag lunches are distributed across the street from St John's on the corner of Holmes and W Main beginning at 8 am.

While there, intake staff and volunteers work to find out the additional needs of those who come and offer guidance and help. On certain days of the month a professional social worker provides referrals and assessment of needs and resources.
